For owner and creator of Suga Cakesicles and Treats, Sarah Stratis, her mission is to use her business to bring the community closer while shining a light on supporting local.

Going by the name, "Your Local Suga’ Mama", Stratis has always enjoyed baking cakes for her family and friend. Once she came to the realization that she could easily make a business out of it while still balancing home life as a stay-at-home mom, that is when Suga Cakesicles and Treats became a reality.

Offering a variety of cakesicles, cake baked donuts, smash hearts and treat boxes that come with an assortment of desserts and more, when Stratis started her business in July 2020, she knew her passion for creating would lead to good things.

“Other than the fun creative process, I love baking for others knowing my treats are a part of someone’s celebration or special moments,” she shares.

Before moving back to Windsor, Stratis lived in Vancouver for seven years where she met her husband and gave birth to her baby boy.

“I’ve always had an entrepreneurial fire from previous home businesses, so starting one in Windsor has been an exciting journey for me,” she explains. “As much as I’ve witnessed many jobs and businesses take a hit, the most positive thing I’ve noticed is the community coming together and supporting local. It’s hard times for everyone and I’m humbled when people want to spread love and joy through Suga.”

Describing herself as creative, passionate and selfless, Stratis shares that what empowers her is her self-worth and drive to be the woman, wife and mother she strives to be.

“I want to set an example for my son to see that no matter what life throws your way, you can succeed with hard work and dedication. The inner strength I’ve gained from parents and their sacrifices empower me to push through hardships, and always stay positive along the way,” she explains. “My husband empowers me to take the time to invest in myself, so no matter how many times I may think I can’t handle a business on my own, he helps me see more clearly. I’m also empowered by the strong women that surround me in my daily life who lift each other up to reach new limits. Knowing where I started and how far I’ve come in such a short time empowers me to better myself to push forward and grow.”
