YQG Metro Kids:
Building a Community of Hope and Belonging for Inner City Kids in Windsor
Kids from low-income families, single-parent households, foster care, and those who have experienced trauma face significant challenges that may hinder their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. In Windsor, a non-profit organization called YQG Metro Kids' vision is to make a remarkable difference in the lives of inner city kids, in turn changing the trajectory of their lives and future generations. Led by Founder Kim Zdunich, YQG Metro Kids aims to provide a safe and uplifting environment where kids can thrive academically, mentally, physically, and spiritually, offering them hope, belonging, and a brighter future.
YQG Metro Kids recognizes the urgent need to support Children living in poverty. According to 2019 Census data, child poverty rates in the Windsor Census Metropolitan Area remain high, with a significant percentage of children living below the poverty line. 1 out of 3 Children under 6 yrs of age are living in poverty in West Windsor, 1 in 6 in all of Windsor. To address this pressing issue, starting this Sept YQG Metro Kids will offer a weekly Sat program tailored to the needs of kids aged 4-11 living in low income areas of Windsor. The Program will take place at their 10,000 sq ft location under the TD / Medical building at Ottawa and Moy. School Buses will pick kids up from all over Windsor for the program and lunch will be provided. Additional support will include school supplies, school snacks, clothing and books.
With a vision grounded in Christian values and principles, they aim to empower Kids to discover their God given potential. The organization plans on creating a supportive community where Kids will feel safe, valued, and loved for who they are. Some of the many programs include Saturday Kids Club, tutoring sessions, weekly porch visits, and special events like birthday and Christmas parties. YQG Metro Kids is all about helping kids see their true value in this confusing world which will give them the opportunity to grow emotionally, mentally and spiritually.
YQG Metro Kids are committed to creating a community of hope and belonging for inner city kids in Windsor. Through their programs and services, they strive to empower children, equip them with essential life skills, and help them build a brighter future.
