Best movies to watch this halloween

Amityville Horror (1979) 

This American supernatural horror film is one for the books. Directed by Stuart Rosenberg and starring James Brolin and Margot Kidder. Newlyweds George and Kathy move into a new home with their three kids on the coast of Long Island without the knowledge that the house they moved in was part of a mass murder, within time the family starts to experience paranormal activity causing them to move away from their new home. 

Trick R Treat (2007)

​A classic on it's own, a small town finds out what it's like to deal with real ghost and goblins on Halloween. The tales being told helps reveal the consequences the town will face if they blow out a jack-o-lantern before midnight arrives.

The Sixth Sense (1999) 

This film tells the tale of Cole Sear, a boy who is able to see and talk to dead people, that is when the family gets a psychologist to help the young boy out and comes to find out it isn't that simple. 

The Shining (1980)

The Shining is considered to be one of the most significant films in history, from jump scares, to bloody scenes to "Here's Johnny", this is the perfect movie for this Halloween and every Halloween that is. 
When a family heads to a isolated hotel for the winter, a sinister influencer has a few things to show them before their stay is over. 

The Rocky Horror Picture Show(1975) 

In this cult classic, lovebirds Brad and Janet profess their love for one another at their friends wedding. When their car breaks down on a rainy day, they seek shelter at a near by castle, which happens to be Dr. Frank-N-Furter.

One of Tim Curry's best performances, this whacking classic has us wanting to do the Time Warp on the regular.

The Ring (2002)

When a mysterious video tape is leaked they may be connected to the killing of four teenagers, a journalist begins her investigation to find out what's behind it. Not knowing that she may only have seven days to live after viewing it.

The Poltergeist (1982)

When a young families home is visited by ghost, things begin to turn nasty when the ghosts begin to terrorize the family before kidnapping the youngest daughter.

The Omen (1976)

After adopting their son Damien when Robert found out his wife Katherine could not have children, strange and ominous events starts to occur which leads the family to believe that the child they adopted from the hospital is evil reincarnated. 

The Hills Have Eyes (1977)

Another cult classic to add to this list, on their way to California, a family accidently goes through a testing range that isn't open to the public, the families car breaks down which leaves them stranded in the dessert. While searching for help, they are faced with a group of psychotic cannibal criminals.

The Evil Dead (1981)

All we got to say is hello Ash William fans. 
When five college students take some time off to enjoy their summer vacation, they come across a strange audio tape and book that when played and read out loud summons evil forces that bend on killing them. One by one they become possessed by the powerful force and only one survives. 

The Craft (1996)

When a group of four girls form a group of witches at a Los Angeles Catholic school, they begin to cast spells on their classmates and soon enough start casting spells on one another. While they start to develop their powers, their strength leads to dangerous consequences. 

The Conjuring (2013)

This one sent fear all throughout my body. 
Directed by James Wan, this trilogy showcases investigators Lorraine and Ed being summoned to family of 5, that just recently moved into a secluded farmhouse, where a supernatural presence in the house had made itself known. Throughout the film, events soon escalate in a horrifying fashion sending chills down any viewers back. 

Scream (1996)

Known as a phenomena to many, this Wes Craven film captivated many when it first hit theatres. 
When high school student Casey Becker receives a flirty call from an unknown stranger, they start discussion their favourite horror films not knowing she would soon be terrorized by a killer, who targets her and her friends by using horror films as a deadly game. 

SAW (2004)

"Death is a surprise party."

When two strangers wake up with zero recollection of where they are and how they got there, come to the discovery that they are being used as pawns in a deadly and scary game ran by a on the lose serial killer. 

Rosemary's Baby (1968)

After moving into a new apartment in Manhattan with her husband, Rosemary starts to experience unpleasant and odd things happening to her when she gets pregnant. She starts to suspect her neighbours have sinister and unpleasant plans for her baby which begins a rage inside of Rosemary to protect her own.

Psycho (1960)

After stealing $40,000 from her employer to run away with her boyfriend, Marion flees to avoid the police and while doing so stops at the Bates Motel and meets the polite but highly strung proprietor Norman Bates, who is anything but ordinary. 

Pumpkinhead (1988)

When Billy Harley is murdered by a group of bikers, his father seeks revenge and goes to a woman who claims she is a witch that soon conjures up a monstrous creature by the name of Pumpkinhead, who gets revenge on the biker gang for what they did to his son. 

Paranormal Activity (2007) 

When a young couple moves into a new home and starts experiencing paranormal activity throughout the night, they install camera's throughout the house which captures all the incidents, unforeseen occurrences and the evil that lives within the house. 

Nightmare On Elm Street (1984)

Being Johnny Depp's very first movie, this Wes Craven film showcases many teenagers falling into Freddy Kruger's trap, a disfigured killer who prey's on teenager's in their dreams. Which, after the horrific dream are over they turns into reality.

Night Of The Living Dead (1968)

An oldie but a goodie, this horror/ sci-fi film follows seven individuals who are trapped in a farmhouse that is under attack from a large group of cannibalistic, undead corpse. Directed by George Romero, this horror classic brought movie theatres to life when it first released and reportingly had people walking out from pure discomfort while watching it.

Jeepers Creepers (2001)

While making their way home from Spring Break, a brother and sister witness a mystery person in the shadows dumping something down a tunnel. When the brother and sister duo stop to check out what they see, they find a disturbing amount of modified bodies and set out to find help, not knowing that the creature in the midst that did this is still on his killing spree. 

IT (1990)

If you're anything like me you have two opinions on this movie- clowns are terrifying and wow, Tim Curry is talented. 

Here's to another Tim Curry film, in the 1960's,  seven teen outcast fight off a evil demon who is posing as a child killing clown. Thirty years later, they come back together to stop the child killing clown once and for all when it returns to their beloved hometown.

Insidious (2010)

When their son Dalton falls into a coma after an incident that happened in their houses attic, a family searches for help after coming to the realization that their house may be haunted by the paranormal. 

I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997)

After four teens get into a tragic accident while driving that kills a fisherman walking on the road, they decide to dump his body in the sea hoping to forget what happened. But exactly one year later, they are reunited when they find themselves being stalked by a hook wielding maniac.

House On Haunted Hill (1959)

When millionaire Frederick Loren host a party for his wife at the House On The Haunted Hill, which is notorious for having seven murders happening within the house, things start to get weird.

Hellraiser's (1987)

This movie is centred around a murderous group from another dimension known as “Cenobites” that aren’t able to differentiate between pain and pleasure and are summoned by a puzzle box.

Halloween (1978)

After a six year old brutally murders his older sister on Halloween night, he is admitted into a sanitarium, where he spends the next fifteen years. It’s not until he finds a way to escape and return to his hometown that he begins to stalk a young woman and murders countless people while his psychiatrist tries to hunt him down and save the unsuspecting town.

Get Out (2017)

When an African American man gets involved with a white woman and he meets her family, he  comes to the realization that the family has dark secrets that could make death seem like a pleasant thought. Directed by comedian and actor, Jordan Peele, this movie hit audience in a different way when it arrived to theatres, making it one of the best horror films of 2017. 

Fright Night (1985)

When a young boy who discovers his next door neighbor may not be all that they seem to be, things get weird. b e all that he seems. 

Friday The 13th (1980)

One of the most notable and iconic horror films of all time, when Camp Crystal is trying to reopen after being closed down because a young boy drowned and two gruesome murders occurred, the camp starts to experience counsellors and others disappearing with no explanation. Directed by Sean S. Cunningham, Friday the 13th has been turned into many movies, games and even some television series. 

The Exorcist (1973)

I don't know about you, but all I envision right now looking at this image is a young girl crawling down the stairs backwards. 
After realizing her 12 year old daughter is possessed by something extremely powerful and unknown, Evelyn does everything in her power to try and save her daughters soul before it's too late. 

Creepshow (1982)

This horror comedy pays tribute to five of the most iconic E.C horror comics that take place in the 1950’s.

Child's Play (1988)

HI, I'M CHUCKY...
When a single-mother has been trying to find her son the perfect birthday gift, she comes across a doll that all the other kids are asking for and decides to get it for him but little does she know the doll is possessed by the spirit of a serial killer. 

Children Of The Corn(1984)

When a young couple find themselves stranded in a secluded town that is over run by a religious cult of children that believe anyone over the age of 18 must be killed they must try and escape before it’s too late.

Carrie (1976)

Shockingly the great Stephen King has made it to our list again.

Candyman (1992)

Helen Lyle is a grad student who decides to write a thesis on the mythical folklore that exists in her town that has everyone so afraid. While doing her research she stumbles upon the story of the Candy Man, a vengeful spirit with a hook for a hand. After ignoring everyone's warnings she accidentally summons the spirit and triggers a series of murders that shake her town to the core. 

Blair Witch Project (1999)

This movie is actually the never before seen footage that was mysteriously left behind after three film students venture into the woods to research the Blair witch legend but are never seen again.
